The Workplace Innovation for Sustainable Well-being Cluster (WISEWORK-C) has published its first policy brief, calling for a major shift in how Europe approaches workplace health and safety. |
Policy Brief #1: A New Approach to Healthy Workplaces outlines a new vision for “healthy workplaces” that goes beyond traditional occupational safety measures to include mental health, wellbeing, workplace autonomy, inclusion, and sustainable work practices.
The brief highlights the growing challenges facing European workers and employers, including stress, burnout, climate-related workplace risks, digital transformation, and changing work-life boundaries. It argues that healthier workplaces require coordinated action across EU institutions, member states, employers, researchers, and workers themselves.
Bringing together five Horizon Europe, European Commission funded projects, WISEWORK-C showcases innovative approaches ranging from compassionate workplace policies and adaptive workplace design to preventive health tools and sustainable work practices. The cluster aims to support evidence-informed policymaking and help organisations create safer, more inclusive, and future-ready workplaces.
The publication marks an important step in advancing Europe’s healthy workplaces agenda and strengthening collaboration between research, policy, and practice.
